UNOPPOSED for seats with 6 years of influence

Reason 312 why we MUST pay attention to local races. Must. Must. MUST. I don't know these people but they are running unopposed probably like many others across the state. These seats are 6 year terms. That's 312 weeks, 2,190 days and 52,560 hours these leaders can make decisions, influence directions and influence the lives of the next generation's education. Just sayin'.

Election 2012: Carol McGlinn and Craig Herschleb are running unopposed for two Kalamazoo school board seats: Incumbent Carol McGlinn and Craig Herschleb are running unopposed for two six-year seats on the Kalamazoo Public Schools Board of Education.

Casinos Halted in MI Court? Perhaps!

Anything that decreases gambling expansion is good with me. And having a court that judges by rule of law and not biased or political shenanigans is also good with me. I'd say the court's ruling on additional casinos in Michigan is a win-win.

Before you post a comment arguing that there is nothing wrong with expanding casinos (do you want us to surpass Nevada in this industry??), take a look at the issue from a different perspective:

Okemos MI school board: Three seats, so far, no candidates

Not sure how things faired for them by 4 PM (I pulled this a bit ago) but this serves as a stick in the side: we MUST not let this happen again. Shame on us for not having a dozen candidates ready to run!

Okemos school board: Three seats, so far, no candidates: Filing day for November school board elections has turned up surprises, from the first contested election in some time in one district to no candidates in another. The deadline for filing is 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Good Point Tim: Citizens in the Dark Again

So a Judge breaks the law, yet gets re-elected? What does that say about the voters? Does it mean they do not care, or that they do not know?

Reason 301 why materials and efforts need to be developed to educate citizens on how the Judicial arena works. Voters need to know how to track the Judges' activity. And when it comes to Election time they need to know where to go to figure out "who to vote for."

Hoping we at CTV (www.ctvmichigan.org) will be able to serve this need. But in the meantime, at least I can educate on what is happening and what to look for.

Honesty, integrity and real justice - do matter. And they can be carried out - and obtained.
